Meeting newly diagnosed ten year old, Adam Carter, and getting to know his mom, Bethany Carter,  and aunt, Cherryel Scurry, and meeting our newest senior support group member, Ralph Brummit, at a gluten-free shopping tour has certainly been inspiring for me.   Since being diagnosed Adam’s extended family had a birthday dinner and his uncle had a gluten-free birthday cake for the event. A friend and former preschool teacher brought Adam a basket of gluten-free goodies.  I have asked Adam’s mom and his aunt, a RD who did a great workshop on packing healthy school lunches at our grandson‘s preschool for moms, to share with our support group Adam’s diet this month as he embarks full-time on the gluten-free diet. We hope to have copies for you at our next meeting. We will learn and be inspired.
I left a message for Ralph, no stranger to the kitchen,  to also share his favorite dish on the gluten-free diet. It just might be a microwave brownie.
Now I am asking you to bring a tip to share in our ice breaker introductions at our next gluten-free potluck,  April 16, at 11 AM at Hope Moravian Church.
Please bring ten copies of the recipe for your dish and place it beside the dish. Include your name and contact information in case someone later has a question. If your recipe is copied please cite the source. Good recipes do get published and shared.
Also, another family of five, Melissa and Aaron Richardson,  would be interested in coop buying of certain gluten-free products. If you would like to do this bring your wish list to the meeting. Let me know of your interest and I will connect you by email with the family and introduce you, April 16.

Dr. Ivor Hill has agreed to talk to us about the latest research with celiac disease and answer our questions. Celiac Disease is now on the radar! Dr. Hill, teacher, physician, parent to vivacious children, athlete, life-time advisor to our support group, continues to send families our way.

Debby and ten year old Drew Fisher will lead a participation kitchen demonstration on gluten-free snacks with other interested children and parents. Amy Leander is bringing gluten-free play dough for children interested in this craft. Suzanne York will lead a fitness activity with children and adults who would like to warm-up together at 10 AM. An RSVP from you indicating activities your family would be interested in will help us execute the details of this event.
